Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy-foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet with floral hops, anise, chocolate syrup and whiskey. The flavor was bitter with whiskey, coconut, pineapple, floral hops and cocoa. Very long finish. Full body. Outstanding.

Location: Bottle at Paul's Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13
Aroma: The nose is has some roast, chocolate, whiskey, and other dark malts
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color without much head
Flavor: The taste is malty as well, lightly sweet with some whiskey notes
Palate: The body is light for the style, it feels creamy, and has a mild burn
Overall Impression: I thought this one was pretty solid. The barrel aging had a nice affect on this beer.

Opaque very dark brown beer. Short lived tan head. Mild dark malt and chocolate nose. Crispy palate. Minerally dark malt, not roasty or bitter. Beautifully blended coffee and dark chocolate and mild whisky. Turns softer. Light minerally chocolate aftertaste. Very nice.

2006 bottle thanks to BeerSommelier, pours pitch black, tall dark tan head. Aroma is roasty, black patent malt, toffee, light licorice. Flavor is sweet, the time has yielded a very sweet maple syrup, earthy body. The barrel is thin, only evident in some oak and maple flavors in the finish. I feel this is slightly past it’s prime.

Sampled at the January ’10 Metro Detroit tasting. This one, thanks to sarcastro. Poured black with a nice dark brown head. Aroma had notes of booze, sweet but dark grains and a bit of chocolate. Flavor was nicely balanced as the oat, chocolate and booze worked well together.

75 cL bottle, courtesy of eyedrinkale. Pours dark brown to black with a collapsing tan head. Aroma is smooth whisky and slight wooden to a dark malt and fruity base. Dry and distinct wooden whisky touch. Roasted malt flavoured and fruity dry into a lingering mild whisky finish.
