Bottle: Dark brown pour, near black. Large tan head. Nose is sweet with bourbon and faded hops. A little roasty and cocoa. Tastes malty with bourbon notes, roasty and chocolatey. Really mellow barrel notes, which I am appreciating more these days.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Kramer 17801. Pours a very dark brown, close to black, with a vague tint of red and a creamy, lacing, beige head. Lightly burned malt aroma. Surprisingly the body is only medium with a very soft mouthfeel, roasted and lightly burned malt accents with a very discreet whiskey touch and some oak. The bitterness is very subdued. 170607

Big big thanks to Degarth for opening this big fat puppy.

Pours very dark with tall frothy mocha head. The aroma is just like the non barrel aged version with roasted malts, burnt malts, hints of chocolate, licorice, a hint of oatmeal twang and a very faint wood sort of note. This beer has somewhat a thin mouth feel with a well above average level of carbonation. So much carbonation that something may have gone slightly wrong with the bottle conditioning at some point. But no artifacts were noticed in the aroma or flavor .In the taste I get oatmeal up front with sweet roasted and burnt malts. Midway a sweeter molasses is noticed as well as a soft muted wood note. Toward the finish there’s maybe the slightest non alcohol boosted whiskey sweetness.

Bottle shared with Odeed from Hopdog; Nose of bourbon, coffee, chocolate; opaque black with a big, nice lacing tan head; flavor of oats, chocolate, bourbon (much less than in the nose, and nice oak woodiness.
