This is not your standard Red Ale. This is a very ‘malty’, ‘roasty’ and complex Red Ale. The roasted flavor comes from the high presence of roasted barley. With a very minimal but high alpha hop addition, this Red Ale has become a favorite among patrons.

On tap at WDW Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Got it at Craft Drafts in the Festival Center. Dark red pour with a firm beige head. Roasty malt nose hints at caramel and light coffee. Flavor is more of the nose with added notes of dark toast and Dark brown sugar.

On tap at Bold City, pours a deep dark mahogany / brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out medium roasted malt, with some bready notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with medium roast and bready malt. Dry and toasty finish. Decent.

12 oz can. Pours a dark cola color with a dense tan head and very good retention. Minimal lacing. Roasted barley nose. Dark roasted nuts and barley flavor with minimal coffee notes. Smooth and clean. A little thin mouthfeel. Tastes more like a schwarzbier than a red ale. 6.0 ABV is invisible.

Keg at the brew pub , 19/02/15. Reddish amber with a moderate beige covering. Nose is biscuit malt, dark fruit peel, light spice, faint cocoa, earthy. Taste comprises nutty tones, caramel, cocoa powder, fruit rinds, light spice. Medium bodied, fine caebonation, semi drying close. Mediocre for style, thinnish and delivers little for the ABV.

On tap at Bold City. It poured brilliant clear amber with white head. The aroma is roasty to burnt malts and really little else. The taste is malty sweet mixing with some crystal malts and a modest level of burnt malts as well. It ends with malt sweetness trying to compete with the layers of roasty goodness. Pretty darn roasty for a red ale.

Tap @ the brewery. Pours ruby/amber, beige head. Aroma is malty, some caramel and hints of roast. Flavor, malty, hints of chocolate, reminding me of lactic , milk chocolate, some roast with a light hoppy profile in the background. This one and their coffee stout were my favorite of the whole selection.
