The next brew in our renowned imperial line, this hearty stout is rich with coffee and chocolate notes, all achieved solely through the use of special roasted barley grains. The complex malt character blends the velvety sweetness of specialty grains with the creaminess of a classic stout. No flavoring has been added to this product.

Pours opaque black with a fleeting tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roast malt and dark caramel. Slick oily palate that delivers a sweet mixture of licorice, soy sauce, chocolate, coffee, with a noticeable hop bitterness.

A deep dark stout with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, light vinous character, pleasant. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light acidity, still pleasant if a bit tired.

Received this in trade from jtrockchalk, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a solid black with a stingy tan head that dissipates quickly leaving no trace that it was ever there. Smells of chocolate syrup, roasted grains, some dried fruit and a touch of alcohol. Taste is of milk and dark chocolate mixed with some alcohol and roast. Body is thick, carbonation low but ample, mouthfeel is a cross between creamy and oily. Good Imp Stout. Still a little alcohol hot, but tasty just the same. I wish I had more to lay down for a year or two because I bet this would be spectacular with some age.

Coffee, licorice and a meaty component in the nose that almost reminds of canned catfood?! Flavor is roasty with coffee but also alot of diacetyl and then alot of astringent burnt grain at the finish, along with a hot alcohol burn.

2008 bottle, thanks to Daknole. Pours black wtih a medium tan head. quickly dissapating head. Nice nutty roasted malt aroma and some chocolate. Wow, the mouth is heavenly. Silky smooth, very creamy with nice maltyness shining through. Big though, the strong dark malts punch down the throat and come back through the nose. bakers chocolate and bitterss round out the lingering finish. Very nice!

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of kp. Pours a clear opaque black with a light brown head. Sweetish aroma of hard roasted malt, dried fruit and sweet coffee. Quite full-bodied, very hard roasted malts and dried fruit again with a vinous touch. Quite malt bitter finish. 110709
