Aromas of caramel, pine, toast, lemon and tropical fruit. That tropical-bitter combo goes beautifully in the mouth, together with loads of toast. The 7.2% eaves a hot streak down the throat. Very lovely.

From can. Opaque dark amber. Biscuit nose. Full bodied. Toasty caramel malt flavour and some pine notes. Big but balanced.

Can. Clear deep red with a large off white head. Aroma is restrained but has orange peel, caramel, bread, biscuit. Full bodied and malty but (again) somehow not that sweet even though some stewed and dried fruit join. Bitterness is firm and a little spicy. The structure of it is a double edged sword - it never seems blousy or boozy but then again it never quite charms. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hannibal Imperial Red Lager on 05 Jan 2019 at 12:36 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.
