Can, as per Maris's description. Clear deepish amber with a dense cm or so of pale beige head that lasts and laces well. Aroma of brooding tenor-register citrus (kumquat, grapefruit), sticky bread crust, light spices and pine. 7+ Sufficiently full-bodied that it really needs to be clean (and is). Rich sweet bread crusts, citrus that is maybe overmatched, heaps of resin at an end that's strongly bitter but doesn't hang around that long. From much the same bailiwick as the Collective Arts collaboration but a little more old fashioned (not a complaint). --- Beer merged from original tick of Pilot System Prototype #1 50 Dalrymples on 21 Aug 2019 at 12:36 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. From a 375ml can on 31/5/2019 (ABV 8.5% not 7.4%, no reference to Pilot System Prototype, says 'Fifty' not '50'). Pours a deep golden bordering on amber, with a small to medium head. The nose is quite maly with a bit of fruit in the background. Taste wise, it's again more malt than fruit forward, with a good dash of caramel and a bit of toffee. There is a bit of sweet citrus in there though. It finishes with a strong bitterness - a bit too strong for my liking, perhaps a touch harsh and a bit chemical. The texture is a slick and the carbonation moderate. It's not that far off being pretty good, but the off kilter bitterness makes the drinking experience just a little rough.
