Hottenroth Berliner Weisse is brewed in memory of Fred & Sarah Hottenroth, Patrick’s grandparents. This tart, German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We use lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer, but here we took the liberty to add pureed peaches for a sweet fruity hint right in the bottle.

Bottle. Poured a mostly clear yellow-orange color. with a small wispy head. Aroma is light peaches, light tart funk. Pleasant peach and acid, light woody notes with some light sweetness.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is peach, funk, oak. Thin body, peach, apricot, funk, oak, nice tartness, very good.

Bottle split at ABC Beer The Hague, 24/09/2015. Many thanks to whomever brought this one. A hazed golden yellow coloured pour with a film of white head. Aroma is tart lacto semi sweet lemon and some eggy notes. Flavour is composed of funky baby sick tart lemon rind, wheaty crisp grains. Palate is sweet and sour, raw grainy, highish carbonation. Not a huge fan of this.

[ As Bruery Terreux Hottenroth - Peaches ].Unclear matt medium orange yellow color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, light to moderate hoppy, citrus, moderate to light heavy yeasty, barnyard, peach, grapes, tart. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration, tart, grapes, yeast, peach. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150924]

Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch, large creamy white head, slow to dissipate, good lacing. Aroma is dusty, wheat, stonefruit, lemon. Flavor is light tart, lemony, hints of peach, touch of salt. Light body, champagne like carbonation. Tasty

750 ml bottle from Reserve Society, poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Bottled on 4/21/2015. Cloudy peach yellow with just under two fingers of quick fading off-white head. Aromas of peaches and apricots, a little lemon lime, a little funk. Tastes of light peach, lemon lime, some tart acidic notes, light funk. Solid though not enough peach on the taste. Think I prefer the base beer on its own.

Sample at the "HOOOOFFHEEARRTTTTEEDDDDDD!" tasting on 11/09/2015. The beer is a hazy orange color with a medium thin off-white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of mildly tart peaches, herbal yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a peach and tart berry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Dark orange, 1 finger head. Smells very acidic, peach is pronounced with wheat and lemon and lacto. Lots of wheat, lemon, oak, peach. borderline too acidic but a refreshing beer if served well chilled.

750 ml bottle from my RS trustee. Hazy, bright golden color, low carbonation level. Aroma has fuzzy peach skins, lactobacillus and light traces of oak.
Citrus acid, mild Brett through the center with the tart and pucker in the finish. The only negative is the light hint of vinegar in the backend of the sip. The fuzzy peach does help balance the sourness. Overall, pretty enjoyable.
