In August, Ängö Kvartersbryggeri brewed their regular Oktoberfest beer Oktoberfestlig. Some weeks later we got 18 kegs of this lovely Märzen and filled our fermentor Boris with it. Finally we poured in our Brettanomyces yeast strain for further fermentation, to get all sugar out of it.
No one knows the result of a Märzen with brett, but we will share it with you. We’re excited, keep your fingers crossed!

Keg at BD ABZ. It pours hazy orange with a thick white head. The nose is doughy, orange sponge cake, juicy, hay, cereal and mild acidity/tang. The taste is bitter-sweet, doughy, orange muffin, cake, booze, cereal, earth, straw, hay and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A bit too boozy for me. Ok.

Finish is slightly bitter with bread, biscuits, grass, lemon zest, moist soil and barnyard. Soft balanced barnyard brett notes on a solid märzen base beer. It works better than expected.
