Bottiglia. Un territorio olfattivo dominato da caffè rimasto troppo a scaldare nella moka e da cioccolato. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata e il modo in cui permane è apprezzabile. Il mantello birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma color marrone scuro che resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è a grana fine, come quelle che costituiscono la forma del perlage. Il colore è come l'inchiostro nero. Il corpo è strutturato. L'amaro è pronunciato. La forza gustativa è elevata e la durata è persistente. Il gusto è piacevole. Il retrogusto è intenso. In bocca l'aroma è quello di crosta di pane, cioccolato fondente, caffè, liquirizia, pane tostato, agrumi, vaniglia e tabacco del sigaro.

On tap at Lambic Tap Room, stated as 12%. A glossy jet black pour with a bone-colored head, very long retention. Aroma is smoke, black coffee, mulberry, chickory (long time no see!) Dry, robust, quite crisp and very umami. Slight saltiness, very strong but balanced final bitterness. Long-lasting, bitter finish with hints of smoke and coffee.

Bottle. Dark brown, coffee foam. Aroma: sweet, caramel, apples, esters, a little burnt and smoked, jam and dried fruit. Sweet taste, caramel, apples, sometimes dried, a little burnt, a little alcohol, wine, warms, good.

Bottle from the brewery, aged almost 1 year. Pours pitch black with a big brown head. Smell of chocolate, coffee and liquor. Flavor is strong on the coffee and toasted side, hints of honey-sugar, liquor, whiskey. A prominent note of pepper for an intensely spicy taste, yet sticky sweetish (cake) and mild bitter (coal), earth/peat. Finish is long, burning, toasted, peppery, spicy, light smoked. Texture is thick, heavy body, like, petroleum-heavy. Not an easy one

On tap. Pours black with a full foamy tan head. Aromas of creamy chocolate, licorice, and dry roasted malts. Flavors of creamy coffee, creamy chocolate, vanilla and lightly smoked malts. Brilliant.

Keg at the bar in brux midi. A dark black brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head aroma is smokey roast, light salt, earthy oak, vanilla, little whisky. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, brown sugars, whisky, earthy oak, little spicy. Palate is semi sweet. Dry, spicy, cakey, moderate carbonation. Decent.

Keg at Brasserie 28, Central station, 07/12/18. Light black with a decent tan covering that thins to a swirl. Nose is big roasted malts, toffee, light charr, chocolate, dried fruits, light spice. Taste comprises roast malts, light black peppery spice, earthy, fruit cake, brown sugars, light soy, charr. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced alcohol. Decent easy drinking impy ... checks in below the ABV.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Caulier 28 Imperial Stout ].ABV: 12,0%. Clear dark black colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, coffee, sour malt - dark fruit, chili fruit, dark fruit, raisin, prunes, wood, alcohol, moderate yeasty, belgium yeast. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, burnt bitter, sour dark fruit, belgium yeast, sweet malt, dark malt, roasted - chocolate, warm - hot smoke chili, coffee.
