This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 02/02/2012. This beer is a hazy amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and caramel malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and notes of pine and sweet malt. The finish is hoppy with a sweet caramel aftertaste. Above average overall.

Quality red ale, not massively Imperialized, but ’roided up nonetheless. The orange and grapefruit-laced Lagunitas hop familiarity is there, as is a mildly-malted front and a long, bitter finish that is eased by the aforementioned hop/fruit loveliness. Still, all these flavors fall just short for a beer claiming Imperial status; the overly-carbonated texture doesn’t help. In the end, this bottle reminds me of Lagunitas’ Maximus IPA-- it’s a Beer-and-A-Half, not a Double Ale. (1/09)

Drucken från flaskan utanför Khioskh till en pizza. Var på jakt efter en red ale och tog fel. Ingen ultimat match med andra ord. Malttung, silkeslen, söt å ena sidan. Men massor av humle i arom såväl som beska.

bottle pours ruby amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is strong fresh hops, very resinous. Flavor is rich caramel malt, pepper and again a healthy dosage of pine and grassy hops. Nice stuff.

Nice red amber color with a good head that produces some nice lacing. The citrus hops come right through with some great sweet malty notes. The smell was good and strong, as well. These hops dominate from the first sip and hits nearly as hard as Stone Ruination, which is a high compliment as I just love Ruination. There’s a lot of citrus flavor with some malt, like the smell, but you’ll definitely be feeling those citrus hops more than the malt. The mouthfeel is great for me. There’s enough carbonation to move the taste over your tongue without shocking your mouth further than the hops already do.
