Brewed with 2-Row American Barley and jammed packed with as much Citra, Ekuanot, and Simcoe hops we could get our hands on, The Shape of Hops to Come is an 8.5% ABV American West Coast-style Imperial IPA that’s got a ton of bitterness along with juicy, dank, resiny pine-like and citrus forward hop character that is worthy of its name.

Reviewed from notes,
Can to tulip.
Appearance: burnt orange with a sly transparency about it; finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: piney/dank to citrusy hoppiness; some caramel/toffee malts - somewhat stiff though
Flavor: encompasses a fairly nice semi-bright citrusy to piney hop quality while the malts do a decent job of blending; mildly finishes with the citrusy hops and those stiff malts
Texture: between light and medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; some hop harshness does penetrate the tongue
Overall: I can see this as a West coast styled DIPA; but something needs to be done about those malts to activate them more

Don’t judge. I was hungry and thirsty and this is all I could find without actually unpacking, and I’m “moving” and “organizing” first.

12oz can. This one had Citra, Ekuanot, and Simcoe. Juicy, fresh. Deep and malty, juicy hops too. Full bodied, but not overboard at all. Rum soaked canned peaches, mango touched hop tone. Big malt sweetness. Nice to drink a real beer instead of a sugar pushed IIPA. Good.

Perfectly clear golden and peach coloured body with a very thin, singlce centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of crisp malt with some pineapple and dank hops with pine and flowers, with a lot of grapefruit and bitter funk at the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong bitter grapefruit and piney hop notes dominate with a lot of bitterness, some soft sweetness and malts come through closer to the end, but the punch really comes from the alcohol and overt hop bitterness that really isn't matched by the malt or balanced at all. Aftertaste shows alcohol, bitter grapefruit and citrus, pine, resin and a tiny bit of syrup at the end, but not very sweet, just pungent and flavourful. Overall, an interesting beer, with a strong and relatively one-sided profile with the citrus and grapefruit hops showing up with alcohol...and that's about it. Good to try fresh, but not worth going out to find or keeping onto it if you have it already - drink it now and be done with it. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Joe Canal's in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on 06-January-2020 for US$3,99 sampled on the same day at home in Washington on 06-January-2020.
