Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB 27/Oct/2016, large sample. Dark color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of soft dark chocolate, bit licorice, bit roast. Bit sweet in taste, mocha, chocolate, licorice, bit spicy, laurel. Licorice bitterness. Bit dry, bit alcoholic. Decent stuff, not extraordinary.

Bottle at the Dirty Old Socks Tasting, Den Haag, December 2014. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is malty mineral caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter witn a rich malty liqourice bitter alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Dark brown colour with some ruby redness shining through, small to medium sized beige head. Smells coffee, toasty and roasty. Tastes roasty, loads of iron.. A bit flat tbh. I can’t really taste ’Engelse drop’. Medium body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Very dark brown to black color, full sized beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, pretty grainy. Don’t get anything else. Taste malts, sweetish initially, light to moderately bitter finish, some dark fruits. Ok beer.

schenkt donker bruin/zwart met fijne bruine kraag. Aroma is gewoonweg heerlijk, drop, mout (geroosterd), zoetig, lichte koffie, toffe, lichte laurier, zoethout.

33cl Bottle from Melgers, thanks Eric! Black colour, beige head. Aroma of typical Jopen candy aroma (yeast?), later on more ashy, liquorice, burnt malts, smells like a dry stout. Flavour is dry, ash, liquorice, medium sweet, brown malts, some alcohol, coffee, dry and ashy bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not their best Meesterstuk.
