Bottle sample thanks to Jaan. Appearance - dark brown a slightly murky. Nicely proportioned head. Nose - gentle smokiness mixed in with crystal malts. Can’t really be sure I’m getting the juniper. Taste - like smoky chocolate biscuits. Might be a juniper note but again it’s elusive. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that falls away a little too quickly. Overall - nice elegant use of smoke, meaning the beer isn’t a one dimensional smoky note. Could just do with a little more length.

Bottle - Toffee, earth and twig. Cloudy brown with a nice head. Bitter twig, earthy , herbal and not much else. A little less exciting than the bottle, especially since I don’t get much of the smoke at all.

Bottle shared on the wibbly-wobbly above ground tube during the IoW Jolly... It pours murky brown with a small yellow-white head. The nose is rich, smokey, spicy juniper, pepper, smoked ham and earth. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, earthy, smoke, ham, spicy, juniper/gin and alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Actually rather nice. Balance works well.

Bottle at cloisters. Pours clear dark brown, thin off-white head. Good smoke aromas without being as bacon-y as some smoked beers can be. You need to seek out the juniper a bit, but once spotted is definitely there. Creamy texture, smoky lingering finish. Nice.
