Pours clear deep golden with a head. Aroma has notes of honey and dominated by cloves, ginger and orange zest. Taste is medium to heavy sweet with a long warm, honey and christmas spiced finish. Body is full, texture is oily to sticky with no carbonation. As someone who is not a fan of gløgg this was a bit to christmas spiced for my liking.

Bottle. Clear, deep golden to light amber body without any head. Aroma has mild honey, Christmas spices, dominated by ginger and a little touch of citric fruit. Flavor has a superb balance between sweetness, spices and just a hint of acidic seen from the mead perspective. I do love a nice balanced mead but ironic I have problems with too much honey flavor, but this is just enough. It’s distinct honey, but not sticky, the sweetness is balancing elegant against the fruity acidity and the spices is also just enough to give the right Christmas flavor without without exaggerating anything. Ginger is the most distinct of the spices and frankly its I have difficulties to identify any other of the spices better than just feeling a subtle Christmas cake flavor. Served a bit cool its almost a bit refreshing with the citric fruit and ginger. The alcohol is dangerously well hidden. Nice one.

Clear shining deep golden color. Solid aroma. Christmas o hoi! Full body and soft to flat carbonation level. Pleasant balanced sweetness. Honey and a lovely Christmas spiced flavor. Damned good!

Bottle, at Både&. A still, clear, dark golden colored mead with a sweetish, spiced aroma. Cardamom, cloves, camphor and orange zest spring to mind. It’s sweet on the palate, with a light acidity and honey as a base flavor. The same spices found in the aroma is present, and there’s more orange zest. It’s full-bodied, warming and with a lasting sweet and spiced finish. A bit heavy on the orange I think, it feels a bit artificial in a way, but a small glass is nice. And I guess that’s the way it’s intended to be drunk. 170429

Bakgården Både & 290417. Amber color. Flavor is raisin, honey, ginger,cardamon, star anise, spices, oranges, caramel. Remind me of Christmas. Nice mead.

250 ml bottle, batch #2, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12%. Hazy brownish-golden colour, no head nor any carbonation. Strong aroma of honey, cinnamon and other Christmas spices. Very sweet flavour with notes of honey, caramel, alcohol and loads of Christmas spices. Too much of the good stuff.
