The name of this deep amber, English-style IPA is a homage to the secluded red sanded beach of San Blas, located just below the village of Nadur on the Island of Gozo. San Blas is a fullbodied IPA, dominated by the explosive character of a carefully selected hop blend that showcases the citrusy and peachy notes of American hop varieties, and the more subtle, spicy notes of British ones.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before June 2024 (very ambitious). Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity, slightly resiny aroma of orange, mango and light grapefruit. Moderately sweet, gently bitter, quite fruity and minimally resiny taste of orange, tangerine, mango and light grapefruit, followed by a short, gently bitter, moderately dry finish. Medium body, smooth but quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty IPA, but English?

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orange golden colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney and slightly citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of pineapple, grapefruit, some orange, resin; fruitiness has a light jelly bear touch; pale malty background, very light overtones of liquorice and rubber. Taste is bitter, piney and citrusy fruity hoppy, pale malty basis without residual sweetness, notes of grapefruit, resin, orange zest, a touch of rubber, chalky and papery (cardboard) interludes; minimally chalky and mineral finish. Watery texture, dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Pretty much West Coast IPA not English IPA in my view; fairly dry and bitter, sadly a bit papery (especially in the finish) - OK.

Forholdvis pålitelige notater fra en travel dag på The Great British Beer Festival, London 02.08.22: lett uklar gylden, ok skum. Saftige citrusfrukter, litt granskudd og god maltsmak. Hint av gulrot? Mersmak.

Owoce tropikalne, grejpfrut, karmel, ciemna skórka od chleba. Barwa ciemniejszego złota, piana dość trwała redukuje się do niskiej i ładnie oblepia szkło.
