The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

Bottle, thanks to Kenny at the Tuesday Horal Chugging Tasting. It pours murky pale orange-amber with a medium yellow-white head. The nose is pine, resin, bitter-sweet, varnish and some citrus. The taste is pine, resin, pepper, varnish, orange zest, grapefruit and a decent alcohol kick with a very dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot to it, but decent enough.

Craft Clerkenwell. Tuesday Horal Chugging Tasting! Very hazy orange - amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate, touch of dryness. Good fine carbonation. Goods fresh orange here, a touch floral. Lesser tropical fruits. Good malt base, supports without interfering! Light semi dry finish. Like the fresh orange here, but lacks the 3F Wow Factor.

Bottled, batch 629, BB 07/2014, large sample. Clear orange to amber color, short frothy off-white head. Big hoppy aroma of grapefruit and pine, citrus, hint of lychee. Quite bitter taste, piney, but with a sweet hint of tropical fruit. The hops they have used do work together pretty good, at least in the amounts they used. Maltiness gives some body, but not as much as some american (I)PAs would, but more than amager (I)PAs based on pilsner malt. Wonderful aroma, in flavor malts and hops are battling a bit, which makes it slightly unbalanced. But Iām definitely enjoying this one!

Rating #10,000, bottled beer at home with my dinner. Cloudy orange with a lasting white head. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit, orange, pine and peach, along with a little bready malt. Dry and hoppy flavour with a little malt in the background. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with a long and very bitter finish, leaving a little hop burn in the throat. Hop lovers can drink a lot of this...

500ml bottle. Hazy dark golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma has a piney, herbal and fruity touch, hints of grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, pineapple. Taste is initially bitter hoppy, only remnants of malt sweetness, fruity notes of passion fruit, pineapple and other tropical fruit, some fruit acid; very late some sweetness in form of biscuit and almond/amaretto notes comes in; for a very short time fusty hints of overripe fruit flash up right before the finish. Very good handling of malt sweetness, which is only latently present, without making the beer too weak on the malt side overall. Highlights in subtleties.
