Brother Levonian Saison is a Farm House style beer brewed to celebrate the life of Dave Levonian. Our friend Dave was a husband, father, homebrewer and a very approachable guy. He was basically just one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He passed away in 2008 at was too young of an age. Dave’s passing left a bunch of us looking for ways to celebrate his involvement in the community of brewers in San Diego. The one thing we all knew about Dave was that he loved Saisons...LOVED them. In this bottle, we have recreated one of Dave’s recipes in the hope of honoring the memories he left us. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer will go to a college fund that was created for Dave’s daughter. We thank you for supporting his legacy with each bottle.

Bottle thanks to ditmier. pours out a cloudy white topped with a sand head. Aroma was of sweetness, belg yeast, and spice. Taste more of the yeast, spice, and maltyness. Not to bad.

Bottle - thanks to Ditmier. Dull, cloudy gold pour with a creamy sand-colored head. Smells of yeast, sweetness, and corn. Tastes grainy with yeast and spiciness. Lots of carbonation; crisp for sure. The overtly grainy and yeast mix just doesn’t do it for me.

Sampled at the DC Local Gathering. Not sure who brought this though. Pours a transparent, pale orange with a thin white head. Sweet, soft aroma of flowers, perfume, slight spice. Flavor is heavy on the honey, perfume, oranges. Soft, chalky finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque golden with an off-white head. Very fresh and fruity nose with some yeast. Medium body, very fruity and spicy - almost peppery - with a discreet finish that has a whiff of Brett. Very fresh. 070709

750 ml bottle purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, California. Pour is hazed orange golden with a think white head. Pretty beer. Aroma of sweet honey, hops, apricot and some white grape. Light spice in there as well. Taste is clove (surprising, had not caught this on the nose at all), spice then the earthy apricot and sweetish honey from the nose. There also is some tart tangerine in the taste. Palate is medium, mouth coating with some residual spiciness. Nice, well made Saison.

Bottle. Amber beer with a nice cream colored head. Yeasty, fruity (summer/tropical) aroma with some spice. Orange flavor with malt and spice/yeast. Medium bodied. Orange and malt lingers with some yeast, spice, and grass. Very drinkable.

750 c&c from South Bay Drug. Pours a hazy amber with a multifinger beige head. Fresh lemon citrus aroma with some yeast and caramel. Almost medium body with mild carbonation. It has funk, and yeast and arguably citrus. Certainly some lighter fruit. Finishes dry with fruit, mild funk and bitter. Funk seems to build with time. Very nice drink.
