Aroma of sweet malts, smoke, peat. Flavour is cloying sweetness to a level that it ruins the beer for me. Too bad.

Bottle. Blonde. Dominant peat in the aroma. Malty soft fruity flavor with peat in the background, lingering on and getting stronger in the aftertaste. Looks like a compromize between the harshness of the peat and drinkability, without finding the right balance.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are peat, ashes, malt and hops. Way too ashy.

16/VI/14 - 33cl bottle from Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: IX/2014 (2014-642)

Little cloudy pale beige to yellow beer, small creamy irregular off-white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very peated, bit sweet, sugary, bit fruity, orange peel, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very peated start, some citrus, little bitter, spicy, cardamom. Aftertaste: bit fruity, sweet, very peated, bit spicy, orange, smoky, watery ending. Peat works in barrel aged dark beers. It does not work when brewing up a blond beer with peated malts, it seems.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Clear golden color, small to medium sized white head that keaves fair lacing. Smell smoke, malts and fingerpaint. Taste malts, smoke and quite heavily that fingerpaint flavor. I wonder actually whether fingerpaint is a word in English. When I was a kid about 4-5 yo or maybe even younger I couldn’t use a brush so I’d paint with my fingers. There was some kind of special paint for that and this beer smells and tastes like that paint. Didn’t eat paint as a kid though in case you think that. Some people might say I did though. Ah well. Got a bit carried away here. Happens sometimes..

Bottle @ benzai. Clear golden yellow with a medium sized white head. Smells smoked, peat, fingerpaint, cheese. Taste: I’ve never ever tasted this much fingerpaint in a beer. And the taste lasts and lasts. Horrible. Medium body, soft carbo.

Bouteille 33cl courtesy of Ben, BB 09/2014.
