People with great knowledge of the craft beer business told us that storytelling is half the pleasure of drinking expensive beer. So we asked a local historian to dig into the location of Amager Bryghus. And to say the least, we were thrilled to discover that our brewhouse is located next to an old water hole on the historic trash trail across Amager. Since ancient time our ancestors have quenched their thirst right here while transporting their rubbish to the famous trash pits of Amager. Likewise is the Buffalo Trace Destillery in Frankfort, Kentucky located on what was once an ancient buffalo crossing on the banks of the Kentucky River. Thus history blends together beautifully – from Amager to Kentucky. We hope you’ll enjoy how we in this special edition of Hr. Frederiksen blends strong black beer with some of the best quality Bourbon ever made.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Looking lovely in the glass, with its small, light tan head over a black body. The aroma has a light booziness, as well as chocolate, roasted malts and salty licorice. It’s full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, with flavors of vanilla and booze in the back, and roasted malts and chocolate doing most of the dirty work. Lasting roasted and boozy finish. Overall, a pleasant beer indeed, wonderful actually, but it’s a bit too much influenced by the booze I think. 120511

On tap at CBC 2012. Beer in the glass looks good, deep black, small head. Intense malty aroma. Starts very strong, intense and heady malty, fine chocolate notes. More and more dry. Finish still with chocolate notes, a bit burning. Great beer!

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A near black one with a small sidesticking tan head. Aroma has fruity dark tones, chocolate - the really really bitter kind, woody tones and roasted paint(!?). It sound strange but it's all so clear for me. Not to extreme in flavor, light smoky and woody, chocolate it's somewhat bitter, coffee and dark dried berries with some whisky hints. Almost like a port wine? Anyhow, like so many other in the series this was really good! 11.05.2012

Draft at CBC. Pours black with a small beige head. Big bourbon in the aroma with alcohol, roasted malts and chocolate. Flavour has same aspects with nice vanilla from the bourbon, but all too noticeable alcohol. Just too fresh...
