The second collaboration between Jester King and Mikkeller, Beer Geek Rodeo is an Imperial Oatmeal Stout brewed with smoked malt, chipotle peppers and Vietnamese coffee.

Beer geeks and rodeos don’t often go together, but if ever there were a place where the two would meet, it would be Denmark. No one from Jester King has ever been to Denmark, but our friends Mikkel and Thomas tell us the entire country is inhabited by craft beer drinking, spicy food loving Viking cowboys and cowgirls, and we think that sounds awesome. So as they say in Danish, bunden i vejret eller resten i haret, which we believe is pro-nounced “Yee-haw!” Jester King Craft Brewery is an authentic farm-house brewery in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, on the outskirts of Austin. We brew what we like, drink what we want and offer the rest to those who share our tastes.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A dark black one with a medium sized creamy chocolate head. Roasted and black on the aroma, some spicy nuances and a hint of chocolate. It tastes roasted and chocolaty with a suiting calming burning spicy tone in the aftertaste. A hint of sour chocolate and strong espresso coffee as well that's lingering in the finish and aftertaste. Geekilisiously tasty! 12.05.2012

Draft at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours oily black with a big, brown foam head. Dark malt nose, burnt wood, faint plastic, very fant chilies, some age. medium to big sweet flavor, strong roasted malts, dark chocolate, decent bit of spicy heat, some peaty earth. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, the spiciness picks up a bit, especially in the throat, but it’s just about the perfect level of spice - not too much, not too little. Pretty nice chili impy.

Capped 750 from ericandersnavy. Pours dark brown/black with a slight dark tan head. Aroma is hot (spice) and coffee. Full bodied. Flavor is hot spice and coffee over smooth burnt malt. Seems to be treacle in it. Finishes pretty much that way. Nice.

750mL bottle, sent from xpimptastikx (thanks Michael), pours pitch black with a medium, lingering, foamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chipotle peppers, some oatmeal and light chocolate. Flavour of chipotle peppers, tastefully worked in albeit fairly dominant, coffee and roasted malt. Finishes with the chipotle and coffee, leaving a pleasant burn from the peppers. Excellent.
