Tap @ 1st Anniversary Kaapse Brouwers Festival. Dark amber color. Vinous aroma with marzipan. Alcoholic flavor with ripe tropical fruit, hints of caramel, vanilla and oak. Grassy hops shimmering through. Needs some mellowing down.

Draught @ Kaapse bierfestival. Clear reddish color, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, wood, brandy influences clearly. Taste malts, brandy, wood, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Can’t describe it properly but I really like it. Nice body and carbonation. Nice one!

Sampled draft @ “Kaapse Brouwers 1st Anniversary Beer Festival”. Dark amber, small tanned head. Nose is bitter grapefruit peel, still heavily hoppy, somehow it oddly works here, pine resin, faint juniper berries & huge sweet caramel & sugar brandy barrel. Taste is bitter oily grapefruit resin, followed by caramel, faint oxidation, big sweet sugary brandy barrel, oily, sweet, light grapefruit peel bitter,… A hoppy barley wine that works, interesting. Very creamy barrel body. Quite good.
