Bottled 375ml (vPBF)
Dark opaque brown color, small beige head. Milky, vanilla aroma, not very strong. Medium-bodied, smooth palate. Vanilla, brandy appleness, roasted maltyness. Some alcohol in the finish. Nice and balanced, maybe lacks a bit depth (yes, I just had BA Speedway Stout before this).

37,5 cl bottle @ vPBF, no BBE or vintage info
Aroma sweet and a bit light with raisins and plums. Flavour is sweet with raisins, some alcohol notes, licorice and apple lemonade. Very good, the sweetness does not disturb here much.

Bottled@vPBF2012. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is nutty, some liquorice, sweet malts and some slight old ale like notes. Flavour is toffee, alcohol, ripe fruits, mild alcohol and some slight resiny notes.

Bottle from Brill & Co in June 2012. Black with a minimal head. This was a lovely one, especially the taste. Complex with malt, licorice, port wine, dark fruit and some light notes of smoke. Nice body and mouth feel. Vinous and with a long aftertaste.

Sampled from a 12.7 oz corked brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was bourbon, cognac, vanilla, candied dark fruits and wood. The flavor was a marvelously complex and swirling blend of rich toasty malts, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, cherry, cognac, cocoa, molasses and tobacco. The finish was very long and complex with flavor that came in waves and lingered forever. Moderately full bodied and the alcohol was remarkably well hidden. Marvelous!

Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, chocolate, alcohol, vanilla and oak. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long sweet, boozy, oaky and vanilla finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.

Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours dark brown with small light brown head. Aromas of bourbon, dark fruits, caramel, roasted malts, and oak. Sweet molasses and bourbon flavors with burnt malts, brandy, oak, and some alcohol. Full body with moderate carbonation and a thick, creamy mouthfeel. A nice beer, but I think I prefer the two beers on their own. Thanks Craig.

Bottle, corked. Looking quite cute, with it’s dark brown body topped by a dense, finger thick tan head. From there it’s just upwards. The aroma, I don’t know how to describe it, I was completely blown away. Sweetness, molasses, alcohol, something peat-like, lots of dried fruits, some medicine and a touch of spicyness in a wonderful mix, making it quite hard to start tasting. And where’s the alcohol hidden? I can feel it in the mouth, there’s some notes of vanilla in the flavor, revealing its bourbon ageing, but that 12.5% ABV is sure well hidden. Flavorwise, it’s equally as wonderful as the aroma, complex as hell, and damn it’s tasteful. The finish is more on the roasted side than the initial flavor, and lasts for ages. Super smooth, full-bodied and warming, it’s next to a sexual experience just feeling it swirl around, caressing the palate oh so softly and careful. Damn, I’ve never been as close to a 4.7 before. Someone send me another bottle please. 110930

Great complex aroma with the booze really apparent. Black with brown highlights and mimimla brown head. Chocolate, caramel, oak, vanilla - massively complex. Chewy and dry mouthfeel. I would have rated lower when straight out of the fridge - so much better as it warmed up and became well rounded and complex.

Bottle shared at home. Virtually black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is massive bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, caramel. Flavour also dominated by the bourbon, along with the same aspects in aroma, very sweet and beautifully smooth with dark fruit. Noticeable alcohol warmth in the finish. Full bodied with very soft carbonation.
