Grutte Pier dankt zijn naam aan de heldhaftige verhalen van de vrijheidsstrijder en volksheld die rond 1517 Friesland beschermde tegen de Hollanders. Pier Gerlofs Donia was zijn naam en door zijn reusachtige gestalte en een bovenmenselijke kracht werd hij Grutte Pier genoemd.

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey golden colour with huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity and minimally grainy aroma, ester-like notes of peach, apricot and mirabelle, a touch of butterscotch. Taste is moderately sweet fruity - hints of apricot and peach, a touch of banana -, minimally spicy yeasty, a floral yeasty touch as well, hints of alcohol.

At Camping Ratebeers. Murky golden colour, white head. Aroma is sweet, yeasty, spicy, fruity, plastic. Flavour is sweet, fruity, honey, yeasty, light plastic, bitter finish. Medium bodied, light alcohol heat.

Klare dunkel goldgelbe Farbe, mittelgroße weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, floral, würzig, gering Honig. Geschmack süß malzig, Honig, floral hopfig, Gewürze, ganz ok!

Draft at The Hague beer festival. Pours very hazy orange with a cream head. Aroma of soluable aspirin, nettles, veggies and light caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Slightly unclear yellow to orange color, very hazy after pouring in the last part of the bottle. Average sized off-white head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell and taste malts, a hint of dishwasher water, sweetish, coriander. Average body and soft carbonation. Oh well, overall it’s not a bad beer, but a bit odd for a tripel.

Bottle @ benzai. Slightly hazy orange with a small white to of white head. Smells malts, some herbs, slightly fruity, dusty. Tastes sweet, malts, slightly yeasty, some herbs. Medium body, soft to medium carbo.

schenkt wazig gouden/amber met witte kraag. aroma van citrus, veel gist en koriander, zoet. Smaken zijn matig-redelijk zoet, overheersende koriander en gisttonen daarna komt het bittertje die als snel de overhand neemt, daarna gaat deze over in iets licht pittig maar ook wat metalige tonen. Kraag zakt overigens snel in, smaken zijn dun/glad en zelfs wat zeperig in de mond. medium body. wellicht één proberen en die al wat langer laten liggen...mwah vind deze nou niet echt super.. --- Beer aliased from original tick of 538 on 05 Feb 2019 at 20:41.
