Gravity cask at the Elysian Winter Beer Festival 2015, Ely. Very very dark brown, or barely black. Smells of slate and burnt coffee. Sweeter taste than suggested by the aroma, rounding to a bittersweet finish reminiscent of liquorice and plums. The aftertaste is more bitter, white still retaining a fruity sweet note. Medium body. Intriguing and well-balanced.

Cask at Euston Tap, 7th June 2012. Jet black, nice head. Good coffee aroma, smooth palate and a tasty drink, you get the oatmeal in there, not bad at all.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours brown-black with a creamy, tight tan head. Nose has some lacto and roast, dark cocoa, slight dark malt tang. Light sweet flavor, moderately roasty with some dark sugars, dirt, burnt grass, tobacco, ash. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly dry to finish, lightly sweet with burnt cocoa, mineral, burnt grass, dark toast, a bit of earth. So so overall. Certainly seems a bit thin, and the general character isnโ€™t altogether synergistic. A decent drinker but could be better.

Cask gravity at The Haywain, Bramling. They had this down as Oat Mill Stout, but pretty sure it was the Oatmeal. Black, dark brown edges, lasting dark beige head. Some liquorice, but another example that Eddie makes exceptional dark beers. Good bitterness on the finish. Lovely choc and proper thick malt. Some date fruit in there. Really good and the only beer I had twice.
