Carling Black Label developed as a brand in 1927 from the Canadian brewery Carling O’Keefe's existing Black & White Lager. It was introduced into the UK in 1952. The brand became hugely successful in the UK via a very popular ad campaign with the slogan "I bet he drinks Carling Black Label". The name changed from Carling Black Label to Carling, with the subtitle Original Lager, in 1997.

Draught at some pub. Clear golden colour with a thin, white head. Sweet aroma with pale malts, light chalky, citrus and grasses. Taste is light sweet. Light to medium bodied. Slightly drying finish. Ordinary macro swill.

Bottle, from historic notes. Source not recorded. Poured pale gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma of wet straw, light citrus, malt and hop. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, watery texture, above average carbonation. Not enjoyable.

Draft at the Manchester in Blackpool. Great looking pour, li let carbonation and towering rocky head. Aroma and taste are generic, but clean, nothing off here. Simple lager, hits the spot.
