  Mild - Dark Regular

ABV: 4.4% IBU: - Ticks: 9
‘Dark Mild’ English style session beer with the ABV and color of an Irish Stout but a nuttier, softer mouthfeel from crystal and chocolate malts, and a finishing dryness from aroma hops. Brewed for drinkability to extract the maximum complexity and flavor from a relatively ‘light’ beer, warm fermented to accentuate dark fruit and roast malt notes. Conceived for cask and perfect served as a Real Ale. Hopped with Cluster and Perle. 29 IBUs.

RECOMMENDED FOOD PAIRINGS: Dark meat barbecue plates, charcuterie, and any other unctuous dishes (this is a dry, palate cleansing beer with flavor strong enough to stand up to the food).

Tap at Gingerman. Pours much darker than in was expecting. Nose of roasted coffee. Tastes of subdued coffee, bread crust, earth, and licorice. Quite mild on palate. Nice but not amazing. I need to get back to England to enjoy some proper milds as I’ve been craving lately.

The Bodega, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is slightly fruity and some roasted malt. Taste is really full for a 4.4% alcohol ale. Taste is slightly sweet, with a nice malty presence. Hops are pretty minimal as one would expect. Good beer.

Draft @ Ale House in Amesbury, MA. Pint glass shows me a mostly clear dark brown with lasting white head. Nose is English malts and a hint of hops. Taste has plenty of English malt, light toffee and just the right hop to balance the sweetness. At 4.3 ABV this is truly a tasty session brew. A nice brew to have with dinner.

On tap at Fette Sau. Pours with a hazed brown body with a small tan head. Aromas are of coffee, toffee, medium roast and light fruit. Possibly an earthy or smokey character, but its a bit hard to tell inside Fette Sau (the place is saturated with the smell of barbecue)! Flavors are sweeter than expected, bready, caramel, estery, fruity and floral. Medium nutty and roasty malt characters back the strong crystal malt flavors. Pretty solid little mild, medium to lower bubbles, fuller bodied but sessionable.
