Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale.

malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils
hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Bottle from Hollingshead Deli; nose of citrus hops, light caramel and fruit; copper color with a small offwhite head; flavor of mild hop bitterness, some caramel malt to balance from the medium body; finish is a little hops with some citrus.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a very little white head. This one had a very stong citrus aroma with hints of vanilla. The taste was fruity with a nice dry finish. a very good IPA.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Grapefruit aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Grapefruit and bready flavors. Body seems to mellow out some bitterness perception which I don’t like. A bit of playdough that lingers with backing grapefruit and pine. Medium body.

Deceptively light, but deeply hopped. Can’t find much in the way of malts here, but this is Hopslam level bitterness.

Bottle ppours a clear orange light amber, with a small decent sized but quickly receding off white head. Thin sheeting lacing. Aroma is IPA allright, sweet bright and citrusy. Grapefruit, and orange rind. Flavor is not as fruity but a nice up front citrus rind bitterness, closely followe dby the medium malts that round out the flavor profile. The lingering bitterness comes through later and hangs around. A bit soft on the carbonation but it all goes well together. A bit more than I expected from a macro/micro like Widmer.

Cloudy amber colour. Lime, cherry, woody hop aroma. Moderate bitterness, fruity notes, some light tangerine. OK, middle of the road example, built for easy refreshment.

Clear orangish amber color with a small white head. Aroma is floral hops and some citrus. Tastes more malty than expected, but with a pleasant blend of hops, more citrus, and a sweet & sour feel. Pretty smooth drinking ale.
