A deep golden-orange hue provides the backdrop for a well-balanced, medium bodied ale. Hop flavor and aroma are distinctly American with a spicy, citrus finish.

Editor’s note: Sold as Mackinac Summer Ale (5% ABV) in Sweden. (2008)

Bottle 0,355l as Michgan Summer Ale. Dark golden colored. A large fluffy head leaving patterns on the glass. Sweet hoppy & fruity aroma. Fruity flavor of citrus. Sweet but some fruity bitterness. Good! KI=6

bottle - I had this one side by side with Otter Creek Pale Ale. This brew pours hazy copper with a one finger fading white head. It has a caramel malt aroma with a little citrus. The flavor has some good, crisp citrus hops along with the sweet caramel malt. The bitterness is fairly low but it’s very well balanced. It’s a nice beer and in my opinion it’s a little underrated here.

355ml bottle as Mackinac Summer Ale, 5% ABV, shared with Finn. Amber coloured body with a beige, bubbly head. Inviting smell of juicy malts. Sweet taste of dry fruits with apricot notes. Refreshing [Tromsø, 22.11.2008].

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Amber colour, small white floamy head. Aroma is zest, mild spices and some grassyness. Some mild toffee and breadyness lurking in the background as it gets slightly warmer. Flavour is malts, grass and some mild fruity and flowery hops. The grassyness is quite dry and biting, and turns into a rather earthy/grassy mildly fruity thing in the finish. Long grassy and zesty aftertaste. Semidry palate. A standard US APA.

(Bottle, labeled Mackinac Summer Ale 5,0%) Amber colour with creamy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with orange, apricots, caramel and fresh hops. Fruity taste with orange, apricots, citrus peel, caramel and fresh, citrussy hops in the finish. Balanced bitterness. Slightly below medium body, rather sweet. Maybe lacking some in depth and complexity. But still a nice beer with a fresh hop character.

Bottle, as Mackinac Summer Ale. Pours a pretty, slightly orangey dark golden body with a quite lively carbonation culminating in a small dense beige head. Malty and bready nose with a moderate piney hop aroma. The bready aroma is of the dark ryebread kind, and there’s some metallic notes to it too. Full-bodied, silky and quite effervescent, with a bready malty initial flavor, quite caramel-sweet, followed by citusy and piney hops and a decent bitterness. Tropical fruits, some pine, and bitterness to go with the sweet and bready finish. It’s a refreshing beer, but too malty for an american pale ale, and it’s almost a bit boring too. (080826)
