The 0-65 tasting. Four guys, fourteen beers, average abv 12.9%, 65 mins! Clear dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Light airy palate, a little soft. Creamy malt, a little chocolate. Mild minerals. Semi dry finish. A smooth porter but I wanted more, especially from FW.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of sublime creamy black chocolate with light lactose notes and light dry roasted malt with floral coffee notes. Taste is a rich mix of creamy black chocolate with light residual sugar coming through as lactose notes with a dry floral finish with some coffee notes and zero astringency. Body is quite full with good creamy texture and good carbonation. Easily drinkable with good amount fo complexity.

Draft. Deep brown body with a frothy beige head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and cream. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture that turns velvety in the finish, lively carbonation. Taste of mocha coffee with a roast bitterness that lingers into the finish. A bit watery in the body, but lots of flavor and depth.

65 cl bottle @ Timo A, bottled 15.03.2012
Aroma is rather fruity - like smelling an IPA. It has some soapy fruits. Flavour is hoppy with resin, some roasted notes and cocoa. Quite far from a typical porter - but I like it.

Pitch black, tan head. Aroma of soft sweet roasted malts, soft dark fruity malts. Taste of soft roast malts, sweet dark caramel , little bit thin though. Palate - medium carb, thin body. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Decent porter but the body was rather thin

Draught at Neighborhood, San Diego. Opaque, black liquid with brown edges and medium off-white/light tan head. Aroma of pumpernickel, biscuit, oak/wood, dark chocolate, bread and some light vanilla. Taste is dry and medium bitter with roasted malt, dark chocolate and oak. Full bodied with medum carbonation. Nice.

Smells malty, like a good porter but tastes like something more with the cascades. Pours with a big head and decent, sticky tracing. Taste is woody with nuts, roast malt and hops. Some saltiness in the malt even. The nutty bitter taste stays with you. There isn’t much sweetness involved here either, just a bitter, roasty porter. Decent, but glad it wasn’t as expensive as some of the other Firestones. Bottle from Health Food Store in Lebanon, NH.

Bottle. Raisin, ash, light roasted malt aroma, Brown with a small tan head. Nutty roasted coffeet, ashy, light acidic flavor with a light spicy hop finish. Everything about this beer seemed a little light to me,but it was still OK.

Not the most attractive pour - kind of looks like cola - other than that, though, this beer is pretty full of win - aroma is medium sweet and lightly doughy, with notes of vanilla, molasses, bittersweet chocolate, espresso and light cask/woodiness - moderately creamy mouthfeel - bitter and roasty up front, with a light touch of acidity - sweeter flavors of vanilla and chocolate through the middle - light woody notes - finish is a nice mixture of the sweet and bitter components, with lingering flavors of toffee and coffee - very solid porter.
