Pours black. No head. Scent is intense, oily, smooth-as-ever roast. Sweet impression. Taste is Surprisingly bitter. Sweet, roasty, toasty. Nuts, dried fruits (dades), caramel. Vanilla. Very smooth. Prety awesome, even though it's (far) older than the brewer intended. Lovely !

Sampled at Ace&Kees festival. Bit hazy dark brown with small tan head. Very sweet toffee, strawberry, lactose, sweet rum and whiskey, lots of sweet sugar, oak, soft spicy rum, sweet flower candy, light white wine. Very sweet, light bitter and tart. Full bodied. Quite good!

Cycles barleywines are ALSO sweet, boozy, thick and rich. Surprised? I'm not. Lactose makes it even stickier and sweeter, too much for me, could do with some bitterness. Barrel isn't helping in that regard, but the rum does pair nicely. Oversweet. Boozy.
