One of our very first beers with a recipe essentially unchanged ever since the first brew.
A classic, robust London style porter – with our own twist. Smooth and full-bodied, bursting with aromas of dark, bitter chocolate, and roasted coffee. Brewed with 100% British ingredients, East Kent Goldings Hops and an array of seven different malts.
While in stock and enjoyed throughout the year, it’s in the colder, wintery months when Railway Porter really hits the spot. Grab a pint, sit back, and enjoy.

Bottle from Against The Grain. Black body with a tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, raisin and coffee beans. Flavour of chalk, charcoal ash, orange and plum. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A bitter, intense porter. Loved this. I had it in 2014 and rated it a 3.4. Eight years later and it’s a 4.4 (which is probably more to do with a change in my palette than an improvement in the beer). A truly excellent beer.

On tap at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with a nice creamy head. Nose - bitter chocolate with some roastiness. Perhaps cream in the background. Taste - more of the same. Palate - medium to full bodied. Rich creamy texture. Bitter finish. Overall - it gets a bit difficult during the second half of the pint though it was delicious up til then.

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma is big roasted malt with smoky coffee and chocolate. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a creamy hop bitter spice pepper palate with some greasy pork scratchings in the first few mouthfuls. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Jeg at the hanging bat... Deep black... Thin tan head... Deep bitter chocolate roast... Soft chocolate roast nose... Cold killing flavour leaving big bitter and eay way to co2prickle.. Dark mslts... Dark roast 3.3 Cask at cloisters ... Man way better... Deep mellow roast.. Nice body.. M nice soft chocolate roast 3.9

Bottle at home, from Beer Merchants.com, 14/10/13. Pours pitch black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malt, rich chocolate, liqourice, earthy, toffee fudge. Taste comprises light roast, dark toffee, cocoa powder, earthy tang, molasses, brown sugars. A little thin and watery on the palate. moderate carbonation, earthy cocoa tones in the finish. Another solid brew from Five points, would have abeen a 3.7 had it not been a little too thin for my liking.

Bottled, date 17 Jul 2013, BB 14 jan 2014, large sample. Dark color, short creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, hint of blackcurrant, sweet biscuity malts, slight grassy hops, chocolate, coffee. Quite modern english porter feel. Quite dry taste, hint of creamy sweetness. In the finish the bitterness kicks in. Laurel and licorice. Lovely beer, lots of flavor, low alcohol. Absolutely great stuff.

Bottle at GBBF 2013, thanks to the Danish crew. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, coffee grinds and cocoa. The taste is mild roast, coffee, earth, salted caramel, dark chocolate and burnt notes with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A decent porter.
