Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is malt forward with roast and chocolate. Moderately strong notes of dark fruit, sherry and honey. Some light tobacco and leather. Light bourbon and oak. Hints of alcohol. Pours black with a medium small, thick, mocha color head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with moderate chocolate and light roast notes. Some light tobacco and leather. Medium dark fruit and sherry notes with lighter honey. Light bourbon and oak. Light alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium to medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but the 2011 bottle was better. This has more oxidation notes showing in the form of dark fruit and sherry which also lessens the malt profile and bourbon notes. Definitely better than the JD bottle from a couple nights ago.

Bottle. Deep brown/black body. Short, lasting creamy tan head. Big aroma of bourbon, caramel, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, oak. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Nice balance and nice that the bourbon doesn’t overwhelm the rich flavors. Tastes of toffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Thanks wnoble.

Bottle thanks to Minh. Pours a dark brown with paperthin beige head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is booze, oak, vanilla, and roast. Thick mouthfeel with rich oak and light bitter malt with nice roast boozy finish. Wow really enjoyed this.

Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing 2012 vintage bottle during his 50th birthday bash. Brown-black pour with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of oak and caramel malt. Full-bodied with a sweet boozy character and flavors of roast malt, chocolate and vanilla. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and chocolate aftertaste. Good overall.
