A deep black ale with a thick off-white head. The mouth enjoys a luxurious coat without the heaviness one finds in most strong bodied stouts. Coffee and dark chocolate, with a hint of toasted bread and vanilla swirl across the palate as this beer is imbibed. The addition of steel cut oats further defines the silkiness of the body and provides a very mild sweetness. This stout is exceptionally smooth and easy to drink despite its dark chocolate notes and complexity.

Roast and light coffee. Caramel. Not bad, though there isn't an abundance of flavour here. Black pour without much head. Light smoky bitter end. Tap at brewery.

Draft sample at VA Beer & Cheer Festival, 12/8/12. Pours a hazy dark brown color with zero head. Aroma of chocolate malts and green apple. The taste is chocolate malts with even strong green apple. Thin-medium bodied. Just a mess.

Tree bark, coffee, and hints of molasses on the nose. Mahogany, thin yellow head. Coffee and cola flavor, slight DMS on the back end. By far the best offering from this brewery to date, which isn’t saying much, but this was an enjoyable beer.
