This long-time pub and pilot favorite can now finally be enjoyed in the comforts of home. A robust chocolate aroma gives way to provocative hints of coffee and dark fruits, with a smooth malty sweetness.

Pours black with a small tan head. The aroma is mostly roast malt and chocolate with a little coffee. The flavor is fairly well balanced, leaning more toward the sweet side. It's full bodied and quite good though for me doesn't rise to the level of many other imperial stouts (my favorite style).

12 ounce can. Jet black pour. Frothy tan head. Cascading lace. Sweet roasted malt aroma hints at treacle. Soft, sweet, roasty malt palate. Flavors include, but are not limited to coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, root beer, currants and old hippie’s headbands. Mild carbonation. Resiny pine finish. Tasty.

Tap at FatHeads, Opaque black body. Lacy off-white head. Thick sweet chocolate tones. Coffee tinged, stick and sweet. Not on the same level as some of their other beers. Still solid. Roasty. A little bit hot. OK.

Sample at Daily Growler UA. Pours brownish-black with a medium thin light brown head that diminishes steadily to a wispy film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of chocolate malt, coffee and subtle hops. The finish is rich with a burnt malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark black color with a small foamy dark tan head that left good lacing. The aroma was semi-sweet and malty with faint chocolate and anise. The flavor was sweetish, roasty and malty with anise, vanilla and crisp floral hops. Medium length roasty malt and floral hop finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Ok.

On special tap at the bocktown, nice place. slight roasty smell. black with no head. quite bitter at first then I realize its not rizing to the level of an impy. yes burnt wood on the back of the throat. almost a little rude but I can’t quite say its an impy, just a rude stout. some co2 too. seems to hide abv well, really fools ya, look out.
