Our brewers are slinging some serious hops into this Belgian inspired DIPA, which is why we initially named it "Trebuchet", the mediaeval French catapult pictured at right. We ran into a snafu with the name when we discovered another cool brewery in California already had it trademarked. Belgian candy sugar and the Ardennes yeast strain lend sweetness to this very, very hoppy beer. Tropical fruit-forward Citra hops, among others, give balance to the sweet profile and high ABV. The beer is babied in the fermentation tanks and dry hopped just before packaging.

Poured can to pint. Hazy, brown/orange. Unusual but interestingly good. Not an DIPA, but yeah it is hoppy. Sweet candy balanced by the Belgian yeast.

Deep caramel and toffee coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, yeast, caramel, toffee and a good dose of light and earthy hops. Medium-bodied; Good strong yeast, barnyardie and earthy tastes at first with a dose of PNW hops, caramel and a light dough flavour behind. Aftertaste shows a nice blend of a belgie ale and an IPA with the hops coming out strong as well as a good deal of yeast. Overall, a nice flavour throughout with some good sweetness, a hint of earthiness and a lot of yeast complexity, all with the hops looming. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$4.29 sampled at home in Washington on 20-October-2013.

16oz can recieved in a trade. Poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark orange, almost amber, with a half finger of thick off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops and belgian yeast with a little toffee. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Loads of tropical citrus with belgian yeast and caramelized sugar. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a super long finish. A bit boozy but the ABV is very well hidden for what it is. Overall, awesome. I could drink this every dary.
