Poured from 500mL bottle (2015 vintage). Hazed golden orange with minimal white head. Kumquat, some nice rosemary and bay leaf herbs, overly acidic on the taste. Aroma is decent, but taste is too acidic, way too old. Meh.

500ml @ Phill's. Appearance: hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: candied acidic fruits, some medicinal notes. Taste: along the same lines, finishes quite ascorbic and rosehips Overall: nah, thanks.

Amber and a touch dull. Some haze. No head. There's sort of a medicinal note to it, light fruit, cardboard. Medium acidity, some fruit, a bit more cardboard. I suppose this could taste worse, for its age.

2015 vintage. 16 oz. bottle, pours a clear dark golden with a small white head. Aroma burns my nose hairs off, with perfumey dragonfruit and passionfruit, and chaotic saison yeast. Flavour is harsh, with oxidation galore, dragonfruit, passionfruit, intense acidity and sourness. I don't know if this was good at bottling, but this is harsh and undrinkable now.

[1/30/16] Bottle sample at the Encomium bottle share, after RateBeer Best awards ceremony at Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel in Santa Rosa. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Golden. Spicy, tart, fruity, wood. Too spicy for my liking.

Bottle at RBWG. It pours a clear golden color. The aroma is big green, unripe passionfruit with some herbal notes. The flavor is the same. Passionfruit, herbals, a little alcohol and green papaya skin. Decent.

Thanks, flopfacefred. The beer is a medium amber. It’s somewhat hazy. Smallish white head. Some lacing. Dissipates to a thin layer of bubbles after a minute. The aroma has some really nice fruit flavor to it. Big passionfruit and dragonfruit flavor in the aroma. It’s nice and sweet and juicy. Kumquat is moderate strength. The bay leaf is interesting and contributes some depth but it also feels unnecessary here. The taste has a fair bit more bay leaf, and I’m not a big fan of that. It’s still interesting and does work with the fruit flavors, but it’s also woody, kinda bitter and just gets in the way of the fruitiness for me. I’d much rather have the fruit alone on the stage because I think the flavor is strong enough and doesn’t need the spice. Anyway, it’s still quite enjoyable overall. Nice juicy fruit flavor. Solid oak with some wine action creeping in. Medium to light mouthfeel. Normal carbonation. Very good beer. I just wish they kept it a bit simpler.
