Aroma of slightly roasty malts, caramel, sweet red fruits, light liquorice, hint of chocolate. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, red fruits, some more liquorice. Interesting take on the Saison.

Tap @ Maximus, medium sample, served in a tulip glass. Dark brown color, medium frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, bit chocolate, bit spicy and peppery, bit flowery hops. Slight sweet in taste, slight bitter, bit dry. Medium carbonation, thin to medium body. LIke you expect from a Black saison. Easy drinker.

Brown colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, malts and red fruit. Light sour flavour, malts, caramel, hint of chocolate. Finish coffee, caramel, light astringent. Not bad, but doesn’t quite work for me.

Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub tap takeover. Very dark brown color, average sized off-white to beige head that leaves good lacing. Weird aroma that somehow reminds me a little of glue and clay. Taste malts, lightly a touch of dark and roasted malts, a hint of coffee roast and bitterness. Dry finish, medium body and carbonation.

Tap @ Van Moll Brewpub. Cola colour with a small off-white head. Smells slightly roasty and liquorice. Tastes malts, some raisins, liquorice wood. Thin to medium body, crisp carbo.

Draft at Arendsnest 12.5 year event. Pours cloudy brown with a bubbly tan head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, light roasted, fruits, toffee. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
