Clear, dark brown coloured body with no head at all and no real opacity. Aroma of cardboard, metal, prunes and a touch of roasted malt - no hops at all to smell. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt and oatmeal up front with a surprisingly nice malt profile and some subdued creamy and milk notes and a touch of alcohol and bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows only the roasted malt notes with nothing else to speak of, aside from some light toffee sweetness. Overall, a surprisingly decent beer after the smell was very mediocre - but this isn’t a black IPA, a porter at best, but not as bad as I thought it would be! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 06-July-2013 for US$1.70 sampled at home in Washington on 24-March-2014.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with off light tan head. Nose and taste of roasted chocolate malt, citrus peel, licorice, earthy pine and creamy chocolate. Lighter medium body. Well balanced.

Bottle thanks to Blipp. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has a good amount of dark grains and bread notes with a bit of earthy grass notes coming through. Flavor starts with sweet dark grains with a growing roasted malts with a bit of earthy grains.
