Bottle at home. It pours jet black with a tiny dark tan head. The nose is roasted malt, strong soy sauce, toasted sesame seed, coffee grinds, oily, salted liquorice and chocolate. The taste is rich roasted malt, espresso coffee, toffee, chocolate gateaux, pecan pie, salted liquorice, burnt earth, dark fruit, cognac and warming alcohol with lingering bitterness. Full body, low carbonation and viscous, oily mouth-feel. A rich, indulgent beast of a beer. Tastes delicious, but I’m slightly off-put by the soy sauce notes on the nose. Great stuff nonetheless.

250 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours oily pitch black with a small creamy and fizzy dark chocolate brown head that is rather quick to dissipate and doesn’t leave and trace worth mentioning. Smell is intense, sweet, malty, boozy and fruity with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, prunes, raisins, figs, cognac, charred wood, alcohol, dark chocolate sponge cake, biscuits, caramel, alcohol and dark roast coffee. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, charred wood, bitter chocolate, soy sauce, alcohol, raisins, prunes, cognac, biscuits, burnt caramel and hints of cherries in brandy. Mouthfeel is smooth, silky, creamy, oily, boozy round and full bodied. finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, cognac, chocolate spongecake, alcohol, prunes, brandy, wood and hints of tart cherries. Incredibly intense and very very good. Very much a big treat that blows you away.

Slightly apprehensive purchase: $15.99 8.5 fl oz bottle. Pours with a inky, deep black and glass coating body, small deep brown head fades to a ring, but legs and lace remain. Aromas are dark fruits, plums, figs, smoke, beef jerky, applewood bacon. Very very vinous, oaky, brandy, vanillin. Main emphasis is on smoked meats, vinous barrel, and alcohol. Cashews, raisins, earth, dark chocolate. Flavors are bready, graham cracker, and exceptionally smokey. Good quality preserved meats and beef jerky. Some vinous barrel, lots of alcohol. Complex yet the decadence and balance is slightly not to my liking. Good body (thick in this case), toasted malts. Lots and lots of smoke. Good chocolate. Good beer, but not mind blowing. Very very viscous. Some strong tannins as it warms. Bitter roast. Constantly changing, new complex flavors. Hoppy, herbal notes, vanillin in various forms. Big bodied, velvety, lightly warming, moderate to low carbonation. Very thick and assertive mouthfeel is nice, flavors are a bit over the place and balanced more to the smoky flavors than I enjoy in beer.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Very black with beige head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice and cognac. Sweet and thick with full body. Chocolate sauce and treacle dominates. Warming and heavy withsticky sweetness. Some nice flavours, but not really enough to balance up the syrupy heaviness.

Bottle shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, small brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell malts, cognac, lightly roasty. Taste malts, lightly roastyness, cognac, lightly alcohol. Superb mix of all the before mentioned ingredients and probably a couple more. Absolutely a lovely beer. Full body, medium carbonation.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Pitch black with a minimal dark brown head that doesn’t last long. Smells sweet, roasty, wood, bourbon, raisins. Tastes sweet, roasty, chocolate, rye, oatmeal. Quite amazing. Full body, silky, soft carbo.

Picked this up in Copenhagen.
A - Pours a huge thick oily black like motor oil or day old fry grease. Totally still, no head at all. Nice alcohol legs.
S - Smells very very similar to the first time I smelled BCBS. The huge aroma of chocolate, cream and bourbon (yes this is cognac) but it’s a boozy chocolate bomb and it smells fantastic!
T - Very sweet finish, the cognac really shines at the finish and it is sticky and resilient and sticks around for a long time. Start is roasted hazelnut and coffee. Black chocolate and raisins in the middle
M - Heavy and thick in body, almost like drinking melted fudge or brownie mix. no carbonation, very slick and viscous. Incredibly drinkable.
O - You know, I was going to share this with some friends because It’s pretty highly rated but the bottle is small, only 8.5 ounces and it’s a great beer to sip for hours on a cool spring evening. Great job! It’s sad that the cognac really only shows itself toward the finish.

25cl bottle. Pitch black, no head. Thick liquid, tar, molasses, black bread, roasted malt in aroma. Perfect. Nicely warming, quite sweet, full bodied. Tar, roasted malt, woody notes and salty licorice. Sweet salty finish, later very dark chocolaty notes. Impressive, nice sipper, alcohol nicely hidden. Not much cognac noticeable, mostly the warmth. Would be great to taste the other barrel aged versions.
