Trade with SHIG. Interesting beer in a 22oz bottle. Tan-black. A-chocolate-dk malt, earthy, some chalky. T-chocolate-dk malt (with a following astringency as it warms), chalky, hint of cherry. Down to a 2.8 warm. Water chemistry?

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick two centimetre tall lighter brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, chocolate, cherries, strawberries and a bit of icing sugar. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours with a lot of chocolate bitterness and a good rich cherry flavour that pokes through some of the bitterness. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with a little nuttiness, some oats and quite a bit of earthy malt, coupled with a lot of milky and soft chocolate flavours. Overall, a nice robust beer with a ton of nice flavour and a soft finish, despite the bitterness up front. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Old Seward Location) on 26-May-2013 for US$7.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 29-November-2013.
