Aroma of citrus, sweet fruit, some pine, light ginger, hint of yeast, mango, floral notes, hops. Thankfully, the ginger is not very prominent. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Nice full body. Reminds of a Belgian IPA.

Bottle at home, bought at Hopduvel in Ghent. Pale blond colour, pretty clear, bit beige bubbly head. Aroma is ultra hoppy, lots of sharp citrus, bit of pine, but not as much as I expected. Hint of ginger spiciness in there too. Ginger intensifies further down. Taste is what you would expect from an IPA. Citrus bitterness, quite a lot of biscuit, or maybe given the ginger, a gingerbread taste. Finish is quite long and mellow, with bitterness booze and malt all slowly fading. Maybe even a bit cakey. Quite solid in the mouth. Started off thinking it was nice, but the further down I got, it became increasingly nicer. Pretty damn good. Rerate: tap Dec 2014. Pineapple and pine needles. Bit of belgian yeastiness. Nicely bitter. Very enjoyable. Tropical fruit. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hoppy (Happy) Lovin' Christmas on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker (bought before last Christmas, we didn't feel like drinking it though). Pours clear golden with a big, slowly collapsing, foamy, white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of grated ginger & pine resin, cheese, yellow apple, mango, lime juice, spring onion, unripe orange. Taste is light fruity sweet, restrained notes of unripe pear, apple, mandarin, some cheese & honey even; quickly turning medium hoppy bitter with prominent pine, bitter mango, a bit spicy (ginger, I suppose), grass bite, accents of bready malt & sourish lime. Dryish, spicy, piney hoppy finish, lingering ginger, grass, honey, orange peel. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite the bitter IPA, not really my style for Christmas, but okay anytime else.
