Shared by Skyview. I like Dubbels but this one has some problems. Lots of yeast, and almost sour. Malt, and highly carbonated, more so than I expect of the style, and sweet, which is fine. Thin palate. ok.

Bottle thanks to Veldrid: Poured a deep mahogany with a thin to finger tan/beige head. Aroma is strong boozy dark fruit, prunes and roasted malt. Taste is more dark fruit raisin, prunes, roasted malt, and metallic finish that stays sticky on the tongue.

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 2/25/2012. Pours very hazy reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good spotty lacing on the glass, wit ha fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of cherry, raisin, pear, apple, molasses, pepper, clove, herbal, earth, dark candi sugar, toast, biscuit, and yeast spices. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good strength and complexity. Taste of big raisin, pear, apple, molasses, dark candi sugar, pepper, clove, herbal, earth, toast, and yeast spices. Lightly tart yeast esters on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, molasses, herbal, dark candi sugar, pepper, clove, earth, toast, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of flavors with good complexity, and no cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly slick and slightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after this finish. Overall this is an excellent dubbel. Great flavor complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. Very well done and highly enjoyable.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of JStax. Thanks! JetsonFest II. Cloudy, brownish red appearance with a light brown head. Kind of a spicy, almond, cola, candy sugar, dark fruity aroma. Weird molasses, candy sugar, earthy, strange, sugary sweet flavor. This was a disappointment.

Sample at Hills Market during the Brewed Awakening Book Signing and Tasting on 02/05/2012. The beer is a slightly hazy dark brown color with a medium light beige head that dissipates slowly to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark malts, fruit and yeast. Medium body with a sweet fruity character and flavors of caramel malt, yeast and a bit of alcohol. The finish is malty with a toasty, fruity aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Bottle via a trade. Pours with a deep amber-red hued body with a small but lasting white head. Aromas are very fruity, estery, strawberry, dark fruits, prunes, alcohol, brandy and a lot of dark caramel (Special B). Flavors are sweet, malty, caramel, light leather. Very fruity/estery, strawberry. Light alcohol. For some reason a bit tongue numbing. Mouthfeel: very lively carbonation (way too much). Carbonic acid bite. Dry, medium bodied. Good for a new brewery.
