The Original C.D.A., Dick Danger Ale is a non-intrusive dark ale that defies style guidelines.

A large percentage of black malt gives this distinctive ale its dark brown/black color and slightly roasted flavor. The Magnum hops provide a backbone of bitterness and large late additions of Mt. Hood hops lend good flavor and aroma in the finish. Dick Danger Ale is Dick’s Brewing flagship beer and is the first beer created by late Founder, Dick Young.

Pour is very dark blackish brown from draught. Mild coffee aromatics. Thin mouthfeel with some malts.

On tap at WABF 2024, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small white head. Aroma is very restrained, with bready malt, some crusty notes, and subdued hops. Flavour is lightly hopped, with medium roast, earthy hops, and English bready malt. Doesn't taste like a black IPA or an English dark ale (the style it was called at this beer fest). For such an apparently seemingly beer, this is pretty forgettable and lacking oomph.

Bottle: Bubbly brown with a gigantic tan head. Lactic caramel aroma. Taste is tangy.....caramel malt, sour wood and milk..... Not good at all.

Bottle. Sour milk, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Cloudy brown with large tan head. Moderately sweet light chocolate malt, moderately sour lactic acid, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Okay body. Not very pleasant.

Dark brown with a near white head. A bit of dark fruit with some caramel malts. Not a lot of aroma, honestly. Thin to medium body. Has malt and fruit in the flavor. Not all that interesting but not bad.

Draught at Mukilteo Lodge
Brown color. It’s a bit malty, caramelly, bready, also some oxidization note; low bitterness.
The style is boring, but the beer is clean.

The appearance had a brown colored body with a slim white foamy head that simmers down to a quick filmy lacy looking spotted head.
The smell was slightly grainy with a little nuttines and chocolate.
The taste had a mainly sweet nutty maltiness. The aftertaste is sweet nutty and malty. The finish is slightly dry yet sweet and lingering.
The palate was about a light to medium in body, and has a decent sessionability.
Overall, good English Brown Ale that I would have again.

Clear dark brown pour with a medium foamy beige head that evaporates steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasty malt and caramel. Light-bodied with a sweet character and notes of malt, toffee and Trix cereal. The finish is short and malty with a somewhat cloying sweetness left behind. Just average overall.
