Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Bottle from sampler pack, historic American recipes. While labelled a bock, it came off as more of a Vienna lager, and not a very good one at that. Medium amber, weak head, weak malty aroma and taste. Watery and thin. I hope this is what it actually tasted like back in the day.

Bottle: Poured a darker colored amber. Aroma is malty. Taste was a sweet up front caramel malt, but had a candy like licorice finish that seemed almost souring. Leaves the palate dry.

Dark chestnut. Caramel nose with molasses notes. Has hints of molasses but these accents are subdued by a very watery character.

Bottle. Strong brown sugar malt aroma. Reddish amber with small head. Light brown sugar malt flavor with only a hint of astringency the style is noted for. Decent beer but doesn’t have much bock characteristics - like it’s Texas brother Shiner Bock.

Bottle Pours a light to medium brown. Very clear and with a large fizzy head that quickly settles to a thin off white film. Decent sheeting lacing. Sweet lightly woody, brown sugar and butterscotch aromas. Flavor is similar. Sweet, of brown sugar and cinnamon toast. I excpected a bit more robust flavors and feel. This is quite light and softly carbonated but decent. No bitterness and a light but smooth feel. Got this in a trade several months ago. Sorry I forgot from whom. Thanks who ever you are.

Pours is a dark brown with no head at all. Aroma is malty and slightly nutty but you really have to use your imagination.. Flavor is carmel and nutty but very bland and watery. Nothing really special here.
