Batch 19 is derived from a recipe found in an old logbook discovered in brewery archives dating back before 1919, when Prohibition banned beer throughout the country. Prohibition was enforced in Colorado in 1916. The pre-Prohibition style lager delivers a bold, hoppy flavor that is surprisingly well balanced.

Found this on tap at the Peddlers Daughter in Nashua. Pours a deep golden color that borders on red with a decent white head that displays moderate retention and lace. Smell is sweet grainy bready malt with a smattering of spicy earthy hops to counter the malt. Taste is quite sweet, almost too sweet with honey like bready malt. Bits of corn spice and earth try to cut through the sweetness and almost succeed. Medium body and carbonation with a sweet sticky mouthfeel. Not bad for an adjunct lager and I would certainly pick this one over most others.

Bottle @ home in a Funkwerks tulip. Haha. Clear, copper appearance with an off white head. Somewhat toasty, light caramel, straw, grassy hoppy aroma. A touch nutty, mild caramel, fairly malty flavor with hints of straw and grass. Actually not too bad. --- Beer merged from original tick of Coors Batch 19 Bock on 11 Oct 2013 at 10:42 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. Draft at Ballydoyle. Looks like a healthy russet brown color instead of the usual piss yellow. Something like a Yuengling, although I haven’t had one of those since 2004. A thick layer of finely-bubbled foam on top. Smell shows some malt, but also a note of corn adjunct, which was in use pre-Pro. Corn note does not make this smell too sweet, though. The taste does offer some toasty malts, though again the corn puts it right on the edge of being sweet. The hops prickle the back of my palate with a German spiciness, and possibly some Northern Brewer for bittering. Malts get a little syrupy toward the end.
