True to style, Warthog Ale is a mild brown brew with a hint of toffee, balanced with a mild hop bite and a clean finish.

I can’t believe i haven’t rated this before! i used to drink on a semi regular basis. Its a pretty middle of the road, maybe even sub par brown ale. Wattery, and thin like most fo the Big Rock beers, some slight malt notes, and a touch of roast, but meh, pretty boring.

Not really to style, but a clean light malty beer. Nothing off easy drinking beer.

No head and a heavily carbonated light copper body. Lots of roasted malt on the nose, some breadiness, nothing exciting. Flavour is a metallic sweet malt with some fake smoke. An Englishman would be horrified by this kind of ale, and me as a Canadian am just hugely disappointed.

On tap at Smith. Pours a clear amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and straw supported by a touch of earthiness. Flavor has notes of grain and bread, but is a bit thin.

Can: Slightly hazed yellow-amber with a small, off-white head. Caramel, lightly woody aroma. Flavour is caramel malt, bread...slightly lactic, with a weak leafy bitter. Just barely ok...very watery...misses the style by a wide margin.

Can. Lightly lactic caramel malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Lightly sweet toffee malt and lightly bitter herbal flavor. Watery palate. I get not calling this a mild ale but I thought one of the requirements of being a brown ale was that it should be brown.

Bottle - Pale malts and earthy hops. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet pale malts and not much else. Not much like a mild, more of an English ale or golden ale.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear, light copper colour with a small, short lived off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt. Flavour is sweet with caramel and toffee. Light body, watery texture and soft carbonation.

Originally rated September 2005. This cream ale (well, it use to be back then) pours an amber colour with a small head that falls short, but leaves a creamy thin layer over the brew. Lacing is there, but thin, and carbonation is light with tiny bubbles. The nose is full of roasted and caramel malts. So is the mouth. Watery mouthfeel. I remember having this one in huge tall glasses at Minglewoods in Ottawa back in the day, and loved this brew. Seems watered down since that day, but still a good brew with a darker colour.
