L’ambassadrice !

On tap at Brewdog Rome. Cloudy ancient gold color with a tick off-white foam. Nose: marzapane, canditi, orange zest, pastiera cake. Mouth is lovely, moderately sweet and spicy, panettone, orange and bergamot. So charming

Hoppy, creamy peppery aroma. Malty, but not too sweet. Full bodied. Creamy, peppery flavor with hints of cardemom and anis. Throughout a hoppiness that becomes almost oily in the aftertaste. A worthy beer to close the year 2005.

From the big old ,75 liter bottle. Gold with a foamy white head. Slightly funky aroma with a bit of spice and orange peel. Taste almost mildly sweet up front, kind of yeasty with a big load of spice. The hops bitterness soon sets in though and carries to the finish, which is almost IPA-like with its dry bitterness. Medium body with a bit of clay, mild carbonation. Decent stuff, even if a touch overhopped for my taste.

Bottle at a tasting. Loads of sweetness, loads of traditional tripely spiciness present, which in turn means not a beer for me. Apples and the weird typical tripel barnyard mix. Good per se, not for me.

Shared bottle. Hazy golden color with small white head. Aroma of malt, oxidation, spices. Oxidation, malt, candies, alcohol. Good.
