Troubadour Obscura is a mild dark red-brown beer with a balanced Belgian twist. Immediately after the first sip of this beer, the difference with other Belgian dark beers becomes apparent. The solid taste of malt originates from the combination of four different malts used in the brewing of this beer. Discover all the different notes: chocolate, coffee, vanilla…

Bottled. Almost black with a nice head. Aroma of nuts (peanuts?), chocolate, and a it of coffee. Flavor of raspberry jam, chocolate, a touch of coffee, raisins. Full and smooth. Dry, somewhat bitter finish with low overall sweetness and a slight port-like edge. A roasty aspect too.

On tap at Lowlander, London WC2. Dark chestnut with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of banana, toffee and chocolate. Sweet, flavour with chocolate fudge, stewed fruit and a lick of spice, before a dryish finish. Too sweet.

Pretty strong for a "mild stout". Biting aftertaste reminds me of a sour milk stout. Definitely notice some brown sugar and earthy tones in this one. Rated 9/20/08

Bottled 75 cl (Bs, ABV. 8.2%). Dark brown, almost opaque, nice creamy beige head, lace. Aroma of molasses, vanilla, coffee and oak. almost like a whisky barrel-aged beer ... oak chips added? Quite light and mild palate for over 8% beer. Flavor has coffee, sweet molasses, toasted malts. Simple flavor which is a bit similar to some foreign extra stouts.

Bottle- Dark brown beer with an aroma of raisins, bitter chocolate, roasted malts. There’s a bit of light smokiness in the flavour with some chocolate, raisins and dark fruits. Has a gentle hoppy finish.

Bottle with a marked as best before date of 2011 and 8.2% ABV. Pours with a large, creamy, khaki over a murky brown body, that is more the hue of a barely wine than a stout. Full retention. Aroma of chocolate, concorde grape, fig, dark fruits, more chocolate, metal and umami. Taste is chocolate, cocoa, yeast, light smoke, currants, raisins, and dark fruits. Medium bubbles and a water like mouthfeel. Good Belgian Stout. Not a mild stout as my label suggested.

pours dark brown, with frothy white head. This bottle seem to have some age on it. The aroma was just superb, light bitter chocolate with aged fruits nose of dark cherries giving the aroma a subtle oak like nose. Taste was outstanding as well, very sweet, plenty of dark fruits, Starts off sweet followed by light bitter notes finishing with a light coat of chocolate, cocoa nibs mouthfeel. Enjoyable from beginning to end
