Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up in Italy five years ago, give or take. Pours thick black-brown with a creamy, beige head. Rich peat character, some secondary bittersweet chocolate, roast, moss, earth, nips of alcohol and raisins, old wood. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Warming finish, lightly sticky, lots of peat, smoky notes, more dark chocolate, some fudge. Dominant peat, so if you like that, and I do, you would like this.

Bottle from Birrivico, Como
Pitch black, with barely any head. Strong aroma of iodine, dark malts, chocolate, molasses. Flavor of dark malts with very light sourness, no chocolate; it has a fairly strong smoke presence, quite salty too; the bitterness seems on the low side and the final is short, with some liquorice; it could do better with some more sweetness.
Very good beer.

Vintage 2013. 330mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Nose is impeccably complex, with loads of complex whiskey barrels, medium smokiness, and some roast -- lovely aroma. Flavour is complex, though maybe not as much as the nose suggests, with peat, ash, smoke, etc. whiskey barrels, and some roast. Could use a touch more carbonation to make it more full-bodied, but this is really nice as is. Great stuff.

330 ml bottle from BrewDog Firenze.
Black body, with a medium, dense, creamy, coffee colored head.
Aroma of whisky, peat, earth, some smoke, alcohol.
Tastes of smoke, peat, earth, dark fruits, some cocoa, some coffee, some booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smokey, peaty, quite dry, with some coffee.

Good, but I was expecting more. The peaty whisky notes are much too dominant, almost nothing else noticeable, so that this is pretty one-dimensional. Not my preferred kind of an Imperial Stout.

0,33l bottle kindly shared by Saeglopur. many thanks. black color, dark coffee-colored head. smells of malty roast, strong smell of peat, bitter chocolate, some alcohol, hard to smell much else because the peat notes are just too overpowering. full body, soft carbonation, full mouthfeel. again strong taste of peat, some creaminess, light roast notes, some (warming) alcohol, smoke & ash. finishes with peat & ash notes. Do not like this one very much, peat is overpowering all the other notes, unbalanced.
