A hoppy Belgian triple brewed with Dr. Canarus at Huisbrouwerij Sint Canarus in Deinze-Gottem, Belgium. Three fermentables (Pils & Munich malt and Light Candi Sugar), generously hopped with Styrian Goldings, Hallertau Mittelfruh, and Amarillo.

33cl bottle @ home. Hazy yellow-orange color, huge active a bit soapy white head that lasts for quite awhile. Smell malts, lightly some metallic bitterness, yeast and leaves. Taste malts, a bit too much CO2, some bitterness, slightly leaves, slightly earthy, a hint of raisin and nuts as well. Interesting combination of flavors, but it doesn’t really please me. Absolutely a decent Belgian Strong Ale, but far from being top of the notch. A bit too highly carbonated, body is ok.

Huge, towering yellowish head over veiled, very carbonated orange beer. Strong citrussy nose, spicy and yeasty aromas, smelling young. Bitter, resiny, rather harsh hoppy flavour. Orange rind, spicy background, some bitter orange liqueur. Feels indeed overcarbonated. Palate is again citrus/orange, but the CO² is too pervading by half. It has the merit of being original, but I wonder if they knew in what direction they were heading.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet candi and yeast aromas. Sweet sourdough and hay upfront turning to a lasting hot, fruity bitter finish.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. It pours hazy copper to orange with gold edges and tall light tan head. The aroma has spicy hops mixing with some funky yeast notes as well as some coriander and allspice. I get some mild sugariness at the end of the draw. The taste is similar with spicy yeast notes mixing with a bit of Saison like farmhouse funk and then more tart notes leading into floral and spicy hops. Behind all of this are sweet malt notes. This is pretty tasty and refreshing too.

Hazy yellow colour. This one has a good balance of a creamy, malty taste mixed with fresh, biting hop.

Draft @ ZBF 2012 // hazy orange / yellow with a white head // smell is crisp, citrus, herbal & touch exotic fruits, slight sweet side // taste is citrus hops, touch herbal, fresh, slight grains & okayish Belgian yeast // light & touch fizzy // not bad but not particularly special or memorable

Draft @ ZBF’12. Dorée/orange brumeuse, col fin blanc. Malt grillé, houblonné palais reste très belge dans son approche sur un profile carapils avec un pétillant moyen, citronné, houblon noble restant sec au palais, poussiéreux le tout étant réchauffant.
